MoqaBilling Screenshots (1)

MoqaBilling, my web application for hourly invoicing, is coming along nicely. Below are some screenshots (client and personal details have been blotted out for obvious reasons). They show the “Orange Kiwi” template in use. I intend to make the application completely skinnable using only external .css files.

Hourly Client Billing System — MoqaBilling

I’ve been working on a custom billing system. It serves two purposes—to replace my current ’system’, and to serve as a first application with which to learn CodeIgniter.

Here are some screenshots, after two days’ work. The template was inspired by various gelatos at Capogiro, including kiwi and orange cardamom:

Studio Moqa LLC

Studio Moqa received LLC status in early March. You can see the PA Department of State filing here.

We’re rather pleased that our vast personal assets are now immune from the long arm of the lawsuits.

Joomla! and Template Upgrade for Studio Moqa

After putting it off for months, I’ve finally switched over Studio Moqa to Joomla! (from Mambo). I’m using Joomla! 1.0.11 Stable (Sunbow), and liking it a lot so far.

The Joomla! backend shows the most improvement — slicker interface, with some changes made to make navigation, editing and content creation more intuitive, and faster (fewer clicks).

I also finally wrote a template from scratch. All CSS, no styling in the index.php file, it’s all in the template_css.css, the way it should be. Decided to go for a minimalist look, for my first template, but I expect to build on it in the coming months, and probably showcase several templates using the Joomla! template-switcher module.

Rachel is on board

Rachel Zerner, a dear old friend, has joined Studio Moqa part-time as the NYC Account Manager. We’re looking to expand beyond the Philly area, into New York, in order to take on projects that are either larger in size, or more interesting in scope.

There’s a bit of a boom in the Philly tech industry, no doubt. However, we’re trying to get involved with projects that are either technically challenging, or larger in size, than what we’ve been doing for the past year.

The Talisman project, is an example. So is the Tetra project–both out of Philly. But interesting projects only come along every so often, and keeping an eye on the New York scene is important.

Rachel is no stranger to managing web site development projects, having coordinated three projects with Studio Moqa:

Rachel will be keeping an eye out for projects, as well as acting as the Project Manager for all clients out of New York. Welcome on board Rachel! (If you want to contact her regarding a project, click here).
